Staging the Venue

Some production companies do not have the pleasure of a permanent home and stage so planing layouts for staging, seating, lighting and other logistics of a production is essential.  You have to consider everything from load-in/load-out, where lighting runs are going to their power tie ins and the control board, sound systems, backstage areas for cast and crew, pipe and drape and customer traffic flow to facilities and egress into and out of  the venue and fire safety corridors. Site-lines for the audience are also a consideration.  We were fortunate enough to obtain a copy of the basic blueprints for the venue and could design accordingly.  Our company is particularly sensitive to accessibility routes as the principle uses a wheelchair. This is the primary reason we try to keep sets simple yet elegant.
